Basics

What is Try Tiny Desk AI?

Try Tiny Desk AI is an AI video generator for the Outstanding Tiny Desk trend. Drop a face on each seat (lead vocals, sax, keys, two backing singers) and get the 18-second clip with your people in it and the song mixed in.

What is the Outstanding Tiny Desk AI trend?

The last 18 seconds of a 2023 NPR Tiny Desk concert that closes with the 1982 funk song "Outstanding", edited with AI so other people sing it. It took off on TikTok in October 2026. The full story.

How do I make a Tiny Desk AI video?

Tap a seat on the stage, add a clear front-facing photo, repeat for up to five people and press make. Step-by-step guide.

Do I need CapCut, a template or a prompt?

No. No editing app, no template file and nothing to type. Tap a seat, add a photo and press make.

Which AI model makes the video?

Kuaishou Kling 4.0 in edit mode, at 720p: the whole clip in one pass, then re-cut to the trend’s timing with the song mixed back in.

How long does it take?

Usually 7 to 10 minutes. You can close the tab: we email you, and the video is waiting on the home page when you sign back in.

Do I need an app?

No. It runs in the browser on a phone or a computer. On a computer you can scan a QR code to send photos from your phone.

Photos and people

How many people can I put in the video?

One to five, same price: lead vocals, sax, keys and two backing singers. Seats you don’t fill keep our AI-generated cast, so nobody from the original clip is left in.

What photo works best?

A recent selfie-style shot: one face, looking at the camera, shoulders up, in good light, nothing covering it. 7 rules for the photo.

Can I use a group photo?

Crop it to one face first. Each seat takes one photo of one person.

Who should sing lead?

The person the video is about. Lead gets about 7 seconds of the big laugh in close-up, so use your sharpest photo there.

Can I put my dog or cat in it?

Yes. Use a clear photo of the pet’s face from the front. Pets come out more cartoonish than people, which is usually the funny part. Pet guide.

Who can I put in it?

Yourself and people who are fine with it: friends, family, coworkers. Everyone must be 18 or older, and it has to stay an obvious parody.

Can I use a celebrity, athlete or coach?

No. Public figures and anyone who didn’t agree to it are not allowed. See the acceptable use policy.

Does it swap only the face?

It swaps the whole person: face, hair and clothes come from the photo. That’s why a plain top looks cleaner than a big logo.

Price and payment

How much does it cost?

Single $9.90 for 1 video, Trio $24.90 for 3 ($8.30 each), Season $69.90 for 10 ($6.99 each). You pay once, there’s no subscription, and credits never expire.

Does it cost more for five people?

No. $9.90 covers any 1 to 5 people in one video.

Can I make one for free?

No. Every video is rendered by a paid AI video model, so there are no free renders or trials. If a video fails, its credits come back automatically. Free options compared.

Is it a subscription?

No. Packs are one-time payments. Nothing renews.

How do I pay?

Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe. We never see your card number.

Can I get a refund?

Failed renders refund their credits on their own. A clearly broken finished video gets its credits back if you email us within 7 days, and an unused pack can be refunded within 14 days. See the refund policy.

The video and posting

How long is the video, and what format?

About 18 seconds, a vertical 9:16 MP4 at 720p with no watermark: the band, the big laugh close-up, the sax solo and the band again.

Is the song included?

Yes, the trend’s audio is mixed in. You also get a silent copy for when TikTok or Instagram mutes it.

Can I post it on TikTok or Instagram?

Yes, as a personal, non-commercial parody. If the app mutes it, post the silent copy and add the sound in the app. How to add the sound.

Does the lip sync match?

Closely, not perfectly. Mouths follow the original performance, so they move on the beat. If it is clearly off, email us within 7 days and we return the credits.

Can I change the song or the cut?

No. The template is the viral cut with the original song. You choose who is in it. The template, shot by shot.

What if it fails or doesn’t look right?

A failed video refunds its credits on its own. For a face that doesn’t look like them, try a sharper front-facing photo. More fixes.

Where do I find my videos later?

Sign in with the same account: your videos wait on the home page and in your account, and we email a link when each one is ready.

Privacy and safety

What happens to my photos?

We use them only to make your video, send them to our AI video provider for that, and delete them from our storage within 2 days. See the privacy policy.

Is the Outstanding Tiny Desk video real?

The original concert is real; the faces in the meme versions are AI edits. Keep yours an obvious parody and never pass it off as real.

Is this affiliated with NPR or Tiny Desk?

No. Try Tiny Desk AI is an independent fan tool for parody videos, not affiliated with or endorsed by NPR, Tiny Desk Concerts or the song’s artists. Tiny Desk is a trademark of NPR.

Why was my video blocked?

Our AI provider’s moderation blocks some photos, most often of minors, nudity or public figures. The credits come back on their own.

How do I report a video or a copyright problem?

Email us from the contact page, or send a notice under our DMCA policy.

Still wondering?

Try it with one face first. Same price for one person or five.
